.
(Buenos Aires) WCA Family of Logistic Networks, the international network of freight forwarders, assembled its Latin American and Caribbean member agents for their second regional conference in Buenos Aires on the 30th and 31st of August (2006).

The objective of the conference was to discuss prospects for the import/export market in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean and to facilitate the collective negotiating power of the group''s members.

Latin America represents, for WCA, a region under great development for both imports and exports. The effect of globalization, as well as the political/economic situation of the countries in the region, has caused international commercial expansion.

WCA is a global network of international logistics agents founded in 1998, comprised of more than 1600 members in 150 countries, with a total combined revenue turnover of $4 billion US dollars.

Locally, the meeting was organized by the oldest Argentine member of the alliance, Distra Activesea, a company dedicated to multimodal logistics. Matias Markez, director of Distra, was grateful that their city was chosen as the meeting site for the second consecutive time and added that "belonging to this alliance brings small and medium sized forwarders the possibility to equitably compete with the giant logistics operators".
